Casual Vacancy for Country Organiser
Mr Neale Dawson, Managing Director / Principal Solicitor, NEW Law Pty Ltd, will be the Returning Officer for the by-election of a Professional Officer for the position of Country Organiser of the Australian Education Union NSW Teachers Federation for remainder of the 2019-2021 triennium ending on January 27, 2022.
Nominations are hereby invited for the following position:
• Country Organiser
Candidates must be financial members of the Federation as at 7 December 2020 and must be nominated by at least two financial members of Federation.
A candidate may complete a statement in support of candidature which will compiled and distributed with the ballot paper. The statement should be no more than 400 words.
The candidate's statement should be typed in no less than a 12-point font and attached to their nomination.
As well, the candidate must provide a word file as an attachment to an email sent to ReturningOfficer@newlaw.com.aumarked to the attention of the Returning Officer. This file will be used to print candidate statements on information sheets provided to voters.

Close of Nominations
Completed nomination forms must be received by the Returning Officer not later than noon on 10 February 2021. They may be hand-delivered, posted, emailed or faxed to The Returning Officer, NEW Law Pty Ltd, 50 O'Dea Avenue, Waterloo NSW 2017, telephone - (02) 8595 1295, fax – (02) 9662 1202, email ReturningOfficer@newlaw.com.au.
On the close of nominations, where the Returning Officer considers that any nomination is defective he will immediately notify the person concerned. Any defects in a nomination or candidate statement must be rectified by the candidate not later than noon on 17 February 2021.
Should more than the required number of nominations be received for each or any position, a draw will be conducted to determine the order of candidates' names on the ballot paper at NEW Law at 1pm 17 February 2021. Candidates or their representatives are invited to witness the draw.
Any ballot will be conducted at the Federation Council on Saturday, 20 February 2021. Each candidate will have the opportunity to address the Council by way of a three-minute speech.
The method of voting to be observed for this election will be exhaustive preferential. All squares must be numbered.
