Mardi Gras Parade - Updated 21/12/17
The NSW Teachers Federation (NSWTF) is looking forward to supporting the 40th Anniversary Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) celebrations in 2018.
Federation has been advised by Mardi Gras that due to a float dropping out of the parade, Mardi Gras has been able to offer NSWTF the opportunity to resubmit an application to participate due to being at the top of their reserve list.
Federation is delighted to announce that our application has been successful and we will be participating in the 2018 Mardi Gras parade to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Mardi Gras. We also look forward to highlighting our connection with the LGBTIQ communities over the years.
The NSW Teachers Federation is a proud social justice union. We have been at the forefront of supporting diverse groups of peoples, communities to which our members also belong. We are proud of the political role we have played in supporting the LGBTIQ community and society on the whole by achieving gains for all.
Federation recently received many messages of support and acknowledgement of the work of the Union and its members in addressing LGBTIQ issues over many years. Such acknowledgement is appreciated and we look forward to working with members and LGBTIQ communities to continue to address issues of concern into the future.
NSWTF also looks forward to Fair Day on Sunday February 18th, where we will be holding a stall to continue our support for the SGLMG and LGBTIQ communities.
We look forward to connecting with many of our members as well and members of the LGBTIQ communities at both the parade and Fair Day events early next year.
