Federation’s centennial Annual Conference begins today
Several hundred public school teachers from around the state will spend three days of their winter break discussing issues affecting the profession at the NSW Teachers Federation’s largest decision making forum, Annual Conference.
Topics to be debated at the union’s 100th Annual Conference, which starts this morning, include workload, schools funding, TAFE, Corrective Services, the state election, staffing and infrastructure.
Guest speakers will include ACTU Secretary Sally McManus and National Education Union (United Kingdom) joint general secretary Kevin Courtney.
Other highlights of the conference will be the Life Membership ceremony and presentation of 15 Future Teacher Scholarships.
Students from Hunter School of Performing Arts will open day 2 of the conference and Liverpool Girls High School will perform on the third day.
