First inclusion and diversity survey launched

Federation encourages members to complete the first ever Survey for Teaching Personnel on Inclusion and Diversity, which is being jointly coordinated by Education International (EI) Asia-Pacific Region and UNESCO Bangkok for members of EI-affiliated unions in the Asia-Pacific.

The survey is part of the program “Teachers for Inclusion: Embracing diversity and promoting safe schools” and seeks to assess the knowledge and attitudes of EI members on gender and sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE) rights.

It will also gather teachers’ perspectives on their role in addressing SOGIE-based discrimination and identify the policy-level enablers and obstacles to address challenges related to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) rights in the education sector.

The proposed survey is designed to inform EI, ministries of education, and international/local stakeholders who work to make the education sector safe and inclusive for all learners.

The findings of the survey will be published as a report, which will be shared widely with EI affiliates and their members.

The survey must be completed before 31 December, 2018, and is designed to take 15–20 minutes to complete.
