Wear it Purple Day: empowering together

Wear it Purple Day will be held on Friday 30 August with the theme – Stand Up. Stand Out – encouraging LGBTIQA+ students and supporters to stand up for themselves and what they believe in.

Wear it Purple Day is a student-led day of celebration and recognition that has taken place in schools and workplaces since 2010. The day was established to demonstrate to young LGBTIQA+ people that they are acknowledged, supported and have the right to be proud of who they are.

Schools are encouraged to facilitate a supportive environment by wearing purple on the last Friday in August to encourage LGBTIQA+ students to feel welcome and see the acceptance from others in their educational environment, which is a place where they can often feel alone and unsupported.

Schools are encouraged to take part in Wear it Purple Day by registering online at wearitpurple.org and hosting an event.
