Call for crowds at TAFE hearings

Come on down to an inquiry hearing

Hearings for the Upper House inquiry into vocational education and training in NSW afford a further opportunity to put the spotlight on the impact of privatisation on TAFE.

Assistant General Secretary (Post Schools) Maxine Sharkey said she would like to see crowds of members at the hearings.

“We want people to be there to listen,” she said.

“It will be informative for people to hear what’s going on in other colleges.”

“Politicians also informally chat to people,” she added.

Ms Sharkey also encourages TAFE teachers to speak at an inquiry hearing.

“Everyone’s got a story,” she said.

“You don’t have to have made a submission to the inquiry to speak,” she added.

The hearings will be held:

  • September 11: Wollongbar and Lismore TAFE campuses
  • September 18: Newcastle TAFE
  • September 22-23: NSW Parliament House
  • October 12: Nowra and Wollongong TAFE campuses.
