This September school holidays I’ll be part of a group of teachers on a challenge as we cycle through the friendly villages and stunning rural landscapes of Cambodia and Vietnam — we’ll be raising vital funds for Plan’s “Because I’m a Girl” campaign.
Plan International is one of the oldest and largest children’s development organisations in the world. It works with communities in 50 developing countries and raises funds to support programs in 21 countries.
By actively involving children and working at a grassroots level with no religious or political agenda we unite and inspire people around the globe to transform the world for children.
Through this campaign Plan helps to break down the barriers to education that many girls face, so they can move from poverty to opportunity. Every girl, everywhere, has the right to a good education, the chance to change their future, to lift themselves and those around them from a life of poverty.
The team so far is a mix of novice and more experienced bike riders, but we’re all enthusiastic and excited as we prepare for the trip. Our cycle will be a wonderful way to explore Cambodia and Vietnam, interact with locals and make new friends, all while supporting educational projects.
Our team will also be visiting one of Plan’s project sites in Cambodia so we can see first-hand the work that our fundraising supports.
We would love it if you could join us on our adventure and help support Plan’s education programs for girls.
