Ryde-Macquarie TA celebrated Public Education Day at the NSW School House Museum of Public Education in North Ryde. The museum has preserved classrooms from 1877 and 1910, as well a 1950s demountable.
Guests were given a guided tour of the school museum. Some hundred years ago public school students attended night classes after a day of work. Archived letters from the period record requests for more candles for students to see properly.
Ryde-Macquarie TA will continue to make this an annual event to highlight the rich history of public education and its outstanding achievements.
