A similar membership app for iPhones was launched in March.
As a campaigning tool, the app allows Federation to urge members into action at critical times, and facilitates this action by linking to a database of state and federal politicians’ phone numbers, email addresses and Twitter and Facebook accounts. By knowing which electorate the user lives in,the app can provide members with contact details for their own local MPs.
Messages can be sent through the app to individuals, groups such as teachers in small schools or members in particular electorates, or to all members.
The app allows members to access their Trade Union Training and Centre for Professional Learning histories and to apply for training courses. The app also gives members access to information about leave, conditions of employment and teacher rights.
Feedback from members using the Apple version informed development of the Android version.
Enhancements include a logo button layout on the menu structure and easier to read information leaflets. Federation has also added a series of salaries rate information sheets for casual, temporary and permanent teachers as well as salaries scales for those in promotions positions. These enhancements have been adopted for the next iPhone version of the membership card app.
The development team welcomes any feedback or suggestions about enhancements and improvements to the membership card apps, to make them effective communications and campaigning tools for members.
